Bailey Jordan Garcia (they/he) is a trans playwright/actor/over all theatre maker based in NYC.

The majority of their work explores the queer/trans experience and coming-of-age through the lens of technology and the internet. Their work often explores the messy -- deeply valuing the gray area and finding the humanity and care within highly flawed characters. Bailey is a big believer in the idea that while safety is essential, uncomfortability is an aesthetic. With their future work, they're interested in exploring more immersive/interactive pieces.

They began writing plays in high school after taking a playwriting class. After telling their playwriting professor they were going to college to study just acting and that playwriting wasn't their path, their professor told them, "You're a phenomenal actor, but you've got the heart of a playwright". Bailey assured their professor that he was "wrong" and didn't understnad their "process" and stormed off ready to take on the commerical acting world by storm. The summer after freshman year of college, Bailey met with that professor again, slunk back into the same coffee shop and fully admitted that he was right -- and they haven't looked back.

Over their time as a playwright, Bailey has been commissioned by PlayGround-NY, PlayGround-LA, and Appalachian Center for the Arts. They have also been in residency/long term writers cohorts with Cry Havoc, PlayGround-NY, PlayGround-LA, Purple Light Productions, and Write Club.

Bailey has worked with 55+ theatre companies, having their plays produced in places including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Fransisco, Florida, Kentucky, and even Italy, among others!

They are also incredibly passionate about an an advocate for Trans rights -- being the co-founder of Fresh Binder Productions, a theatrical home for trans/gnc playwrights as well as spending a portion of their summer every year mentoring trans youth.

When they're not working on a new show, Bailey can be found going a bit too hard at karaoke with friends in Brooklyn, staring longingly at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park, or working at their favorite LGBT+ summer camp over the summer.
